The Consorzium Ethics is a Research Organism, born in 2006 with the aim to promote R&D in many fields concerning Science and Technology.

The project has been realized by the Consortium Ethics. The Research Organism allowed the automation of the event management process. The developed system allows:

  • The management of preliminary info (inscriptions, provision of informations, organization)
  • The race management with automatic record of arrival positions and production of the final results.


Inside the web site a link connected to a dedicated server in Ethics, accessible via TCP/IP, allows the recording of race partecipants. This support will also permit the registration of any last-participant on the same day of the race (within 1 hour from the starting time) and in places where hardly a good ADSL band coverage is available.

To obtain these results N.E.W.A. a.s.d. aims to increase the number of subscribers and, therefore, the association visibility.

Every participant needs to register by providing the following information:

– First and last name
– Date of birth
– Sex
– Residential address
– Nationality
– Tax code
– Mobile
– Email for communications
– Chosen Distance (Long, Short)
– Board Type (All round, Race)
– Acceptance of personal data processing
– Autocertification of good health as a disclaimer by the organization, among with a copy of the identity document (ex art. 46 del DPR 445/2000).

A sequential numeric identifier code and an EAN code (bar code) will be assigned to each athlet. It needs to be printed in two copies by the partecipant himself and presented on the day of the race at the athletes validation spot, will allow to participants to get the microchip radio frequency bracelet and the goody bag.

On the day of the race the participant has to present himself for acceptance with a printed copy of the the EAN code or, in the absence of printing, with the numerical code assigned during the online registration.
At the start/arrival place two stations will be prepared, that they will be connected to the server system via a wireless radio link or by an alternative solution. These stations will be equipped, one with a bar code reader, the second with a keyboard and a monitor to enter the numeric code (for anybody could not print the bar code).
This operation will allow the following operations:

  • User identification, acquisition of photos and payment of the fee;
  • Association with a RFID tag, mounted on a elastomer bracelet to be put on the wrist (unique identifier of the partecipation to the race);
  • Delivery to the participant of the goody bag.

As soon as the system will reveal that each athlet, attribuited to a distance, has passed through the validation, the race list will be produced. The computer set up in the competition area will verify the completion of the list of race and beginning of each competition. Complete list of contest the system will provide the location of the start indication of races ready. The participants will be able to check the monitor specially crafted the presence of its name and the path chosen.
The judges will decide whether to start one or more events simultaneously, selecting them on the user interface. To start the race will just have to click on the button of START and the counter will attach to the races selected departure time.

Upon arrival, the system will draw up the list of participants who finished the race and will manage the queue assignment of the order of arrival. Each competitor will have to come down from the boat and rush to push a button, getting the sound of the assignment of a race time by reading the RFID tag. At the working position of invitation to tender will be set up a “port” of passage for the athlete, capable of allowing a short row of competitors. This solution is designed to allow, in case of multiple arrivals in very close times, to allow the stop timer race without hindering competitors later. Reading of tags, in the competition area will appear the picture of competitor, preventing an exchange of bracelets can generate false arrivals or allocations arrival.
Thus, each competitor crossed the finish line will allow the system to allocate immediately the competition time to the race proper. With the arrival of the last competitor, the system will detect the completion of a race and immediately draw up the list.
